May 8 2020 Edition of Easy Ed's Variety Hour

Hi, folks!

Here's hoping all is well with you. We're continuing to broadcast "Easy Ed's Variety Hour," remotely, from Room 6, Lower Mezzanine 3, of the Easy Ed Record vault. (I have not tidied up down there since, well, .... Let's just say there will be no home studio photographs.) We did another show last night (May 8), and you can find the always free archive MP3 for this episode, and many others, on the Easy Ed Podbean page. Just click here.

I will be doing another live-spin event next weekend (details to come). Also, WMFO has started doing remote broadcasts, and I'm on the schedule for that. Assuming things work out I'll share the info here.

In addition to the regular radio show I am working on a new interview podcast series called "Djs Talk DJing" and have been busy recording conversations with other DJs for that. It's going great so far. More details soon.

Sad news today about the passing of Little Richard. As you know I'm a huge fan, but only got to see him perform live one time (at the 2007 Greenbay Rockin' 50s Festival--Tony Wilkerson's summary provides lots of detail about the performers at that festival. There were three of these festivals, and I was fortunate to attend all of them.)

Thanks for listening, and stay safe. When this all over, let's have a big party, OK?

And stay in touch! I'd love to know about rockin' happenings and I welcome requests for future shows. You can email me at djeasyed@gmail or message me on Facebook.

Best,

Easy Ed

April 24 Edition of Easy Ed's Variety Hour

Hi, everyone.

I hope you are well and that you enjoy our latest broadcast from April 24, 2020. You can listen to the show anytime--just click here: https://easyed.podbean.com/

It's possible our FM radio home, WMFO in Medford, will reopen this year. (When it does I'll be back.) For now I've made some upgrades to my home studio and things sound more or less normal to my ears. I'd be interested in hearing what you think though. You can leave a comment on the Easy Ed's Variety Hour Facebook page email me at djeasyed@gmail.com.

Speaking of Facebook, they pulled the proverbial rug out from under us when we attempted a live spinning session last Friday. Those live events are fun--I love interacting with you in real time--but I need to find a more reliable channel if I'm going to continue spinning live on the Internet. (I hate to advertise an event only to have it cancelled by The Man.)

Easy Ed Spins the Platters: April 17, 2020

Hi, everyone! Last night (April 17, 2020) we did another “Easy Ed Spins the Platters” event on Facebook—or tried to: Facebook pulled the plug after 40 minutes. (Insert your own loving ode to Facebook here.) However, I recorded the mix from my ancient Vestax mixer and it sounded fine. This morning I added a few more of the records I had planned to play in order to fill out an hour of music for you. Reminder: These "Spin the Platters" sessions are informal—I make record selections on the fly, depending on how things are going and on what listeners want to hear. I hope you enjoy the archive, which you can find here.

The list of records played appears below. We’ll have a new edition of “Easy Ed’s Variety Hour” for you next Friday. Take care and be well!
