Our January 13 Show

Hi, folks.

Thanks for your interest in the show! If you missed the January 13 program you can listen to the archive at any time. Just click here. The songs we played this time out are listed below.

Our next broadcast is scheduled for January 27. On February 18 I'll be spinning live with the Cranktones at the Midway (early show). And remember our regular live DJ night, Primitive Sounds, takes place at Brass Union in Somerville twice a month. Our next outing: January 25.

Mysterious trivia for instrumental fans: Radio continues to be fun for me because I learn new things all the time. For instance: On this episode I played a fantastic instrumental called "Purple Crackle" by Jimmy Jeffers and The Jokers (Target Records 1960) from a CD compilation called "Strummin' Mental, Vol. 1" on Crypt Records. (Hear it here.) Loyal listener Karl called in to correct me. No, he says, that track is "Tom Tom" by Carl Newman--Trio Records 1960. (Find that one here.) To my ears they are not only the exact same song, but the exact same recording of the song. They sound identical. So, what's the real story? Further info would be appreciated, listeners, if you have any.

Thanks!
